The Journey

Grant Specialist | Communications Strategist | Community Growth Architect

A lifelong entrepreneur with over two decades of experience in business development and community enrichment. From launching door-to-door ventures as a teenager to managing a family-owned transportation company, my career has been defined by a "boots-on-the-ground" work ethic. Today, I combine that grit with professional expertise in grant writing and strategic communications to empower nonprofits. My mission is to bridge the gap between visionary public charities and the funding they need to create a lasting impact.

The Entrepreneurial Journey

My foundation in business was built on neighborhood sidewalks and local grit:

  • The Early Start (Age 13): Began my career with Shelby Enterprises, mastering the art of the pitch by selling newspaper subscriptions for the Arizona Republic and the Mesa Tribune.
  • Team Leadership (Age 15): Co-founded A&J Landscaping Company with my closest friends, managing operations and door-to-door sales for residential yard maintenance.
  • Specialized Services (Age 16): Scaled my landscaping efforts into a specialized niche, providing palm tree trimming services for local senior living communities.
  • Business Operations (Age 23): Established and operated a family taxi business, learning the basics of marketing, community networking, and business to business relations.
  • Public Charity Service (Age 25): Began serving on the board of directors for a local charity, built up my skills in business to business relations, and learned the ins and outs of fundraising.
  • Humanitarian Aid (Age 34): Helped Establish a public charity dedicated to providing comfort to homeless families and veterans.
  • Sole-Proprietorship (Age 35): Established my first carpentry business.
  • Community Growth Architect (Age 39): Established The Grant Ninja Inc., a consulting firm dedicated to helping public charities and small businesses grow.

Humanitarian Leadership & Advocacy

I have had the honor of serving the nonprofit sector, in key leadership roles:

  • The Old West Youth Organization: Served on the Board of Directors, developed a website and social media presence, focused on business to business relationships, worked with community leaders to further the organization's goals, and designed marketing campaigns.
  • Aegir's Feast Family and Veteran Services: Served on the Board of Directors, developed a digital presence, developed business to business relationships with local charities in the same field of support providing critical support to homeless families and veterans prior to the global pandemic, set up blanket drives and hygiene product acquisition campaigns.

Academic Excellence & Specialized Training

To transition my experience into professional advocacy, I sought mentorship from the industry’s leading experts:

  • Grant Writing Mastery: Studied under Professor Beverly Browning (author of Grant Writing for Dummies) at Central Arizona College, focusing on advanced proposal development.
  • Current Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications at Ensign College to fulfill the requirements for my Grant Professional’s Certification (GPC).

Impact & Project Highlights

I specialize in identifying SEO conflicts, increasing brand recognition, and securing funding through technical proposal writing.

  • MENDA (Housing for Disabled Veterans): Collaborated on the "Fort Hope" project to design ADA-accessible tiny home building plans that met local building code requirements.
  • Carlsbad Cares Animal Rescue: Conducted full-scale digital audits to resolve SEO conflicts, improved website conversion rates, and negotiated discounted advertising rates with local broadcasters.
  • US Dwarf Futbol Association: Currently driving brand recognition and SEO strategy to fund youth clinics and the establishment of a national women’s futbol team.
